Have you heard the song, God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flats? It’s pure gold, absolutely beautiful, and speaks to many people. I’ve listened to that song many times in my life. I’ve cried tears to that song, and I’ve also had a few beers listening to it.
I’m not going to sit here and say that life has been easy, hunky dory, or peachy keen. Life has been hard, sometimes grand, and other times downright a hot mess.
One thing that I’ve always been blessed with is God’s love. I’m not someone you look at and think she’s a faithful person. I don’t exude religion, faith, or all-around righteousness. I’m me; I flip the F-Bomb at times. I don’t walk a certain way, wear the right clothes, and often stick to myself.
The thing is, what is a faithful person? What is a religious person? If you can answer that question, I will question your ideals. So many times, we think we have faith and God figured out. We think we have to put on our Sunday best and act a certain way for God to love us. Society tells us that we have to do this or that when all we have to do is accept God into our lives and never give up trying.
This book and Pastor Kim reminded me of that and helped me return to God when I needed him the most. The world and the scars I received from my choices opened a door for me to choose to walk away from God’s grace. I chose to believe that I had to make my own way, live life on my own, and figure it all out without any help.
I sat alone for nine months in an apartment and found my faith again. I found what was missing in my life, and while I’ll never claim to be perfect or know it all, I won’t let it go again because of the ugliness in the world that tries to tell me I’m not enough.

Beautifully Broken by Kimberly Jones-Pothier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Pastor Kim brings a very Raw story to life, giving readers insight into her healing.
Through her deliverance, you will see the healing process. Reading this story allows readers to understand that through your broken period, you learn your true strength and that God will never give up on you.
Everyone deserves forgiveness along with love. This book is a great read for anyone going through a troubled time or anyone who has been through one.
No one is getting out of this world without a scratch, ding, or getting in the mud at one point. We have to understand that life was never meant to be easy. It was meant to be lived. The realness Pastor Kim brings to her story and ministry opens our minds to God’s love and lets us all know we are not alone.
